Yufei Ren (she/they) is a photographer and interdisciplinary artist born and raised in Dalian, China. Working across photography, installation, and mixed media, they explore themes of surveillance, cultural identity, loneliness, displacement, and the constant negotiation of “home.” Ren's practice combines personal experience with conceptual strategies to consider how identity is shaped by distance, memory, and cross-cultural life.


Ren received their B.S. from Kent State University, Ohio, where they studied advertising and photography. Ren is currently an MFA candidate in Photography at Georgia State University, where they serve as Instructor of Record and previously worked as a Graduate Lab Assistant. 


Their work has been exhibited in Atlanta, Portland, and Dalian, China, including Melt: State of GA at Hambidge, the Annual Juried Student Exhibition at Georgia State University, Camera Work: Black and White at Black Box Gallery, and the Art, Calligraphy and Photography Exhibition at Zhongshan Art Museum. Ren is the recipient of the 2026 Full Scholarship Award from Penland School of Craft and the Wallace J. Hagedorn Grant in Photography.
